AGRICULTURE ASSOCIATE

Acumen’s Global Agriculture team seeks an Associate with 2-4 years of experience to frame agriculture strategy and support fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities

As the Agriculture Associate, you will be the go-to utility-person on the Global Agriculture team. Your primary function will be to support the Global Head of Agriculture based in Lahore and Head of Business Development for Agriculture based in London, in all aspects of agriculture strategy and fundraise work. You will be expected to provide solid and flexible support as needs change with shifting priorities, which will require learning new skills quickly. As such, the role provides an opportunity to gain a broad set of financial and sector-specific skills.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to supporting the Global Head of Agriculture and Head of Business Development for Agriculture in the following:

Global Agriculture Strategy:

  • Developing a detailed financial model and pitch deck for an Agriculture Fund
  • Generating knowledge from our global Agriculture investments to share with key stakeholders and influence the broader stakeholders in the global community
  • Coordinating with Impact team on Agriculture Impact projects

Fundraising:

  • Identifying potential funders/investors and managing existing partners
  • Drafting funding proposals
  • Identifying international Agriculture conferences, managing participation and providing logistics support
  • Developing power point presentations for partners and prospects

Coordination:

  • Ensuring that Acumen's portfolio management systems contain the most recent data and information and preparing quarterly metrics and compliance reports for the Agriculture Portfolio team
  • Coordinating efforts with Marketing and Communications team on branding initiatives
  • Scheduling, managing logistics, creating agendas and taking minutes for Global Agriculture-related meetings
  • Assisting in any other work pertaining to qualifications that may arise from time to time

Qualifications & Characteristics

Candidates for the Associate role should bring an undeterred commitment to Acumen's mission of solving the toughest problems of poverty, a strong entrepreneurial spirit and excellent attention to detail. Ideal candidates will have an interest in both private for-profit and not-for-profit opportunities and will also bring passion for international development especially within Agriculture, either through academic study or field experience.

In addition to a minimum bachelor's degree, you should also possess:

  • 2 - 4 years of work experience in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to work independently, proactively and deliver the highest quality product possible
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills and familiarity with concepts of finance or economics and financial modelling
  • Comfort with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and an ability to learn quickly on the job
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Very strong organizational skills and a commitment to accuracy
  • Tireless commitment and willingness to roll up one's sleeves on tasks small and large
  • Work authorization in Pakistan

Compensation

Acumen offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, including full benefits. This is an 12 month contract role.
